Taxes

The Virginia Department of Taxation administers state income taxes. Generally, the taxes you pay the state are calculated based on your Federal income tax return.

The Northampton County Commissioner of Revenue administers assessment of real property and personal property taxes in Northampton County. The five incorporated towns of Cape Charles, Cheriton, Eastville, Exmore and Nassawadox have their own taxes. Oyster and Willis Wharf are unincorporated.
