There are public schools as well as a private school in Northampton County. The public schools in Northampton County have earned the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence awards that recognize outstanding public and private schools nationwide.

These schools have also received national recognition for the tremendous progress they have made in the No Child Left Behind Standards of Learning.

The Northampton County Public Schools are governed by the Northampton County School Board, which consists of eight members who are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The Superintendent is appointed by the school board as the chief administrator.
