Beaches

With water on three sides, The Eastern Shore of Virginia has three beautiful “public beaches” here on the Chesapeake Bay in Northampton County. Beaches are described below starting South and heading North along the Eastern Shore.
Sunset Beach Resort

With its own restaurant and beach club, this 73-room hotel has a private beach that stretches a full quarter of a mile. Registered guests of the hotel or patrons of the Pelican Pub located behind the hotel are welcome to use the beach. Sundays during the summer season, the Pelican Pub features a band on their expansive decks located right on the bay. Great place to catch the sunset.
Kiptopeke State Park

Situated on the Chesapeake Bay three miles north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on Route 13. The park has a fishing pier, boat ramp, guarded swimming beach, bathhouse, camping facilities and picnic area. There is a small entrance fee during the season, but season passes are also available. Pets are allowed if they are on a leash. There is a “per-pet” fee. Great place to catch the sunset.
Cape Charles Public Beach

Fronting Bay Avenue in the historic district of Cape Charles, this free beach is open year-round. This is one of the best places to search for sea glass and catch the sunset.
