Sports and Recreation

All of Northampton County is grand for bicycling. Bicycling on the bayside of Rt.13 takes one up and down all of the necks adjoining the Chesapeake Bay.

Bicycling on the seaside of Rt. 13, one can travel Seaside Road (Rt. 600) all of the way from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to the town of Accomac, approximately 50 miles of flat back country road.

Golf

Northampton County has 2 Signature Golf Courses, both located within Bay Creek Resort & Club.

Arnold Palmer Signature Course

The Arnold Palmer Signature Course at Bay Creek may be the most spectacular golf course on the East Coast! With four holes on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, eight holes on Old Plantation Creek and several holes framed by sand-dunes and large beach bunkers, the Palmer Course is a nature lover's delight. The 7,204 yard championship course pampers its golfers with smooth A-4 greens and perfectly manicured Tifway Bermuda fairways. Five strategically placed sets of tees are guaranteed to make golf fun and challenging for players of all skill levels.

Jack Nicklaus Signature Course

If Jack Nicklaus' mark on the 20th Century was his golf game, his legacy in the 21st Century will be his golf course design. Breathtaking views of the Chesapeake Bay and Old Plantation Creek and acres of natural dunes highlight Jack's latest design. Measuring 7,417 yards with Tifsport Bermuda fairways and smooth A-4 bent grass greens, the Nicklaus Course is characterized by large waste bunkers and more than 100 formal bunkers.

Kiteboarding and Windsurfing

Northampton County is blessed with shallow water and sandy bottoms on the Chesapeake Bay side of the peninsula, perfect for kiteboarding and windsurfing. Kiteboarding picks up off the Cape Charles beach when there is a Southwest wind.
