Kiteboarding and Windsurfing

Northampton County is blessed with shallow water and sandy bottoms on the Chesapeake Bay side of the peninsula, perfect for kiteboarding and windsurfing. Kiteboarding picks up off of the Cape Charles beach when there is a Southwest wind.

Skimboarding

Long flat beaches on the Chesapeke Bay allow for kicking and gliding on skimboards over the sand bars at low and mid tides. The Barrier Islands located along the Eastern Shore of Virginia offer rides on waves on the deserted Atlantic Ocean shoreline.
